People love scanning QR codes.
It’s a convenient way to direct people to your website or other online resources either from the internet or your offline marketing materials.
I know many businesses, clients, and friends who use QR codes for everything from event registration to payment links, online downloads from printed books and flyers, and so on and so on.
A little background
Did you know that “QR” stands for quick response? The first QR code was invented in 1994 by the Japanese company Denso Wave for labeling automobile parts.
How much will it cost to generate yours?
You can generate QR codes for free from many resources online. Today, I discovered a super-easy free website you can use to generate any code you want. You can check out Adobe’s free QR code generator. T.ly is another online QR code generator (it’s a little heavy on ads though).
How to get it done?
It’s super easy. Just type in the URL (website link) in a form field and the QR code is generated immediately, even as you type. Next, scroll to the end of the form and download or copy your QR code. You will see that there is an array of color options, e.g., background color or dots color–feel free to modify those if you want.
Do clients need a special app on their phones to scan the QR codes?
Some of your clients may have phones capable of scanning QR codes natively without installing an additional app, but others may need to install a simple QR scanning app to scan your published code. But I don’t think this is a big deal. Your clients are probably familiar with QR codes already or at least have heard of them and are willing to check out the experience.
Conclusion
Well, that’s basically it. Placing QR codes on your website, marketing materials, or even around physical spaces within your business premises is a stylish and effective way to help your clients reach you and access the resources they’re looking for. It gives off the impression that you are forward-looking while you are able to guide your clients to information, products, or services and the actions you want them to take using this simple, but effective tool.
